After months of delaying, Cube Entertainment's newest boy group PENTAGON has finally made their debut on Monday. And during the showcase of their album, Jinho and Hongseok revealed how they ended up with Cube Entertainment from their previous labels.
Jinho, who used to be part of SM The Ballad, said he and his previous label have different views, which forced him to depart SM Entertainment. "I was a trainee for about 6 years, but my opinions and the label's opinions were a bit different. So I decided to bid them farewell under good terms," he said as per Allkpop.
On the other hand, Hongseok, who made his debut with YG Entertainment's iKON, said he had to look for other opportunities after he got eliminated from the boy group. "The rookie development director [of Cube] explained to me about a team called PENTAGON and it was perfect, so I told him right away that I want to stay here [in Cube]," he revealed.
Jinho and Hongseok alongside eight other members of PENTAGON were introduced through a survival show called "Pentagon Maker." The newly formed group under Cube Entertainment dropped their self-titled album during a showcase on Monday.
Supposedly, PENTAGON was scheduled to make their debut last July 16. The showcase event was later moved to July 23, however, Cube Entertainment has once again delayed the debut of its newest boy group, Soompi reported.
A representative from Cube Entertainment addressed the issue but refused to give the reasons for the delay. "The debut concert can be considered cancelled. How it will be processed in what form is still under discussion, and the schedule has not yet been confirmed," the representative said in a dispatch.
