"Doctor Who" star Peter Capaldi confirms to appear in the first episode of the BBC's new young adult spin-off series "Class." The Doctor is in.

According to The Independent, the BBC has confirmed that Capaldi will appear in the opening episode of BBC3's "Class." He plays the family sci-fi series' latest incarnation of the titular Time Lord. He will show up for the premiere episode.

The "Class" series is a young adult spin-off of the hit BBC series, Mashable reported. It takes place at Coal Hill School in London. Many fans recognise the school as a key location from the long-running show's universe.

In the plot of "Class," the four high school students Charlie (Greg Austin), April (Sophie Hopkins), Ram (Fady Elsayed), and Tanya (Vivian Oparah) have to deal with their own problems and the impending end of the world. "Coronation Street" actress Katherine Kelly will also play Ms. Quill.

YA author Patrick Ness is the series creator for "Class." He will also serve as an executive producer alongside "Doctor Who" heads Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin. Strangely, the opening episode will be shown exactly one decade since BBC America's spin-off "Torchwood" first aired.

Ness is also behind the popular novel "A Monster Calls." The film adaptation of which will be released in January.

The "Class" is the acting debut of Oparah. Capaldi will return as The Doctor next April for "Doctor Who" Season 3. Austin recently starred as Goldon Selfridge in "Mr. Selfridge." Hopkins just finished filming for the horror movie "Brackenmore." Elsayed appeared in "The Aliens."

The "Class" spin-off series is set to debut on the small screen this fall, with the first two episodes dropping on BBC Three on Oct. 22. Episode 1 is titled "For Tonight We Might Die," and episode 2 is titled "The Coach With the Dragon Tattoo."
