The massively popular anime "Tokyo Ghoul" will soon return for another season. As the manga version that tells the story of Ken Kaneki continues to thrive and gain in popularity, enough chapters are available to extend the tale of the ghouls through anime.

Fans of the dark fantasy/horror anime are anticipating the return of "Tokyo Ghoul" for another season. Fortunately, the series has been renewed for another season according to when-will. But the start date of the possible third season and additional details are still unknown.

There are indications in the past releases that could push the series premier sooner than many expect. For those who follow the manga version of the popular anime, the current story has evolved to a much darker theme although it still revolves around the fight between ghouls and the CCG. The storyline has moved forward although Ken Kaneki is still a big part of the story.

The first two seasons of the anime was covered by the manga titled "Tokyo Ghoul." The upcoming season will tell the story of ghouls and CCG from the manga "Tokyo Ghoul: Re." If the anime would follow the storyline of the manga, the upcoming season will feature a very different Ken Kaneki.

Warning: possible spoiler from manga source.

In "Tokyo Ghoul: Re" Ken Kaneki is known as Haise Sasaki and he is now part of CCG. He has lost his memory and became part of the group that hunts ghouls through Arima's training. With the rest of the CCG, they will hunt for the "One Eyed King."

The release date of the anticipated manga adaptation is still unknown. However, the series should be released sooner this year because of the trend from previous releases. According to My Anime List, the first season was released in 2014 and the second season was released the following year.

The upcoming season of "Tokyo Ghoul" offers a stark contrast on Ken Kaneki's role in the story. If the anime will be faithful to the manga source, his new identity will be more than just recalling who he really is as it will feature impressive encounters and revelations from CCG and ghouls.
