The Freeform's latest TV series "Shadowhunters" premiered on Jan. 12, 2016. The highly anticipated TV show, based on Cassandra Clare's book series "The Mortal Instruments" revolves around Clary Fray's (Katherine McNAmara) journey as a Shadowhunter, who attempts to rescue her mother who was abducted by a demon. As she decides to join the band of teenagers with similar supernatural abilities, she meets a cunning warlock Magnus Bayne played by Harry Shum Jr. In his recent interview, Harry Shum Jr. talked about his new role, upcoming episodes and his romance with Matthew Daddario's Alec Lightwood. The Chinese-American actor Harry Shum Jr. is known for his role in Fox's "Glee" and the movie series "Step Up." Speaking to Zap2it, the actor revealed that his "Shadowhunters" character Magnus Bayne is a "rockstar." While in Episode 1, fans got a brief introduction of this warlock. The actor assures that in the coming episodes, his association and his influence on Clary will be revealed.

"With Magnus, you're going to see why he loves to party, and also why he is the way he is. What's fun is that he's quick with his tongue. He's really witty," the actor said about Magnus Bayne.

For the fans of the book series, the TV show reportedly mostly sticks to "The Mortal Instruments" storyline. A little change can be expected in the timeline, notes the actor.

As for his character, "Shadowhunters" will bring in a love interest for Magnus Bayne. Those who have read the books, they know that Magnus Bayne will romance Alec and it won't be too long before they get to see the sparks flying between the two on the show.

Meanwhile, the couple dubbed "Malec" will also have an episode dedicated to them, according to E! Online. Harry Shum Jr. and Matthew Daddario chatted with the aforementioned publication about the fan-favourite couple from the book and their romance on the TV show. "I'm really happy with what we did with it, and I think I'm very proud of it and I think that we've done something very effective and to the story," Daddario gushed.

"A lot of thought went into it because it's obviously very important to a lot of people and it's also important to us that we stay true to something that has an effect on people's lives-at least we hope it does," the actor added.
