The trailer of "Fifty Shades Darker" has dethroned "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," generating 112 million views, for the title. The romance drama is already a record setter ahead of its release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the official trailer for the second installment "Fifty Shades Darker" of the franchise was viewed 114 million times across platforms. The first one has been viewed online 114 million times in the past 24 hours. The preview for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" previously earned 112 million views online in the first 24 hours.

The trailer of "Fifty Shades Darker" received more than 2.5 million views within the first hour on their domestic Facebook page alone, Variety reported. It generated 39.4 million views in North America only. It was supported by localized trailers in 32 international markets, led by the big countries such as U.K. (18.9 million), Brazil (12.4 million), France (9.8 million), Mexico (6.8 million), and Italy (6 million).

Universal debuted the steamy teaser of "Fifty Shades Darker" on Tuesday morning. The teaser was viewed across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and other digital platforms. It first showed the trading of blindfolds from "Fifty Shades of Grey" for masks in a ball to be attended by the main characters Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).

The first dialogue in the two-minute clip of "Fifty Shades Darker" shows Steele posing in lingerie for Grey: "Are you just going to stand there gawking?" The trailer then offers a look at a masquerade ball and the escalating romance between the two. Steele told Grey that "This time, no rules, no punishments, and no more secrets," unlike "Fifty Shades of Grey" ended their romance apart.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is based on the bestselling 2012 novel written by British author E.L. James. It is helmed by director James Foley from a script that James's husband Niall Leonard wrote.

Other cast members of "Fifty Shades Darker" include Hugh Dancy (Dr. John Flynn), Eric Johnson (Jack Hyde), Jennifer Ehle (Carla), Luke Grimes (Elliot Grey), Rita Ora (Mia Grey), Victor Rasuk (Jose Rodriguez), Eloise Mumford (Kate), Max Martini (Taylor), Bella Heathcote (Leila Williams), Kim Basinger (Elena Lincoln), and Marcia Gay Harden (Mrs. Grey).

"Fifty Shades Darker" is set to open on Feb. 10, 2017.
