South Korean singer, songwriter and actress Sooyoung of the girl group Girls’ Generation is set to star in the upcoming TV drama series “Polyclinic Doctor”.
According to Soompi, the 26-year-old star will be portraying the role of one of the leading characters who has an envious personality and a complicated love life. However, Sooyoung’s onscreen partner is not yet finalized.
“Polyclinic Doctor” centers on the story of medical students who undergo clinical training in various health related branches. The series will be produced by JS Pictures and is projected to have 16 episodes in total.
Currently, Sooyoung is one of the cast members in the TV drama series “Squad 38.” Joining her on the show are actors Ma Dong-Seok, Seo In-Guk, and many others.
Although she is often teamed up with various artists in her drama projects, Sooyoung is presently in a relationship with actor Jung Kyung Ho. The couple revealed their relationship to the public in January 2014, Soompi reported.
Sooyoung started her career in the entertainment industry after joining the girl group Route θ in 2002. After releasing three singles, the group parted ways a year later.
Four years after the disbandment of her former group, the KPop star again joined another band named Girls’ Generation (also known as SNSD) alongside Jessica, Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Yoona, and Seohyun. The group rose to fame after their single "Gee" claimed the top spot on KBS's Music Bank for nine consecutive weeks.
Aside from her commitments in her band, Sooyoung also starred in various drama series. This includes “Unstoppable Marriage”, “Dating Agency: Cyrano”, and “My Spring Days”.
