After the departure of showrunner Beau Willimon, another significant character will bow out from "House Of Cards" Season 5. Actor Mahershala Ali, who takes the role of Remy Danton, confirmed he will not take part in the new installment of the acclaimed political series.

In his interview with Deadline, Ali laid down the reasons for his departure from the Netflix series. "I didn't feel that there was a lot more to really explore-and if they didn't agree with me, I wouldn't be out of that contract. They understood that we had a good run, you know? You move on. I've said this before: every show has a shelf life," the actor said.

However, Ali cleared out he did not quit "House Of Cards," instead, he said it was a mutual agreement between him and the production after his character had run its course in the series. "There wasn't really anything new to offer the show, and there's a lot of people on that show," he added.

Despite the decision, Ali thought Remy Danton made good exit from the Netflix show after he rekindling his relationship with Jackie Sharp in "House Of Cards" Season 4. "If [Remy] were a real person, despite everything that he's had to do and go through, I believe that he would be happy right now," Ali said.

His departure from "House Of Cards" has opened another opportunity for the actor as he is now confirmed to play as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes for yet another Netflix series titled "Luke Cage," Variety reported.

Ali also said playing as the villain is a challenging task which could bring out the best in an actor. "You can do a lot with those roles-you really can. I don't want to only do that, by any stretch, but I definitely see the value in doing that," he said.

Catch Ali in "Luke Cage" Season 1 starting Sept. 30 on Netflix.
