"Miss Peregrine" star Eva Green and "Venus in Fur" actress Emmanuelle Seigner are set to star in Roman Polanski's psychological thriller "Based on a True Story ("D'apres une histoire vraie"). The film will be sold internationally by Lionsgate.

According to Variety, "Based on a True Story" tells the tale of a writer (Seigner) whose life and mind are endangered by an obsessive woman (Green) after the release of her latest book. It is an adaptation of Delphine de Vigan's critically acclaimed novel of the same name. The book was published last year and won the Prix Renaudot and high school prize Goncourt des Lyceens.

There is really no one more suited than Green to play the writer in "Based on a True Story." Green performs and specializes in playing women with no boundaries, as Vulture reported. She frequently inhabits characters that embark on incredibly intense and inappropriate romantic relationships. To those who are not aware, Seigner is Polanski's wife.

For Polanski, "Based on a True Story" marks his return to filmmaking since his 2013 drama "Venus in Fur." French filmmaker Olivier Assayas is co-writing the French-language film with Polanski. He recently won the Best Director prize at Cannes Film Festival this year for the supernatural drama "Personal Shopper," starring Kristen Stewart.

"True Story" is Wassim Beji's first collaboration with Assayas and Polanski. Beji is producing the film via his Parisian outfit Wy Productions. The film production's credits include Jalil Lespert's Cesar-winning "Yves Saint Laurent" and Pierre Niney-starred "An Ideal Man" and the French remake of "Chaos" with Romain Duris, Charlotte Lebon, and Lespert.

The shooting of "Based on a True Story" will start in November in Paris, France. Mars Distribution will release it in France. There is currently no U.S. distributor attached to the project.
