The Microsoft Surface line is definitely one of the most reputable brand in terms of built quality and specs in the hybrid tablet category. That's why it also reflects in its price tag. However, a recent announcement by Microsoft confirmed that they will be reselling refurbished units of previous Microsoft Surface units at a discounted price.
Microsoft retails refurbished units of the Surface Pro 4 128 GB SSD storage model with Intel core m3 processor and 4 GB of Ram for just $764. While the Surface Book 128 GB SSD storage model with Intel i5 processor and 8 GB of RAM will just retail for $1,274. It is estimated to buyers will receive a 15 % discount in purchasing these refurbished units, Yibada reported. Despite being revamped and a year dated units, Microsoft will still offer it sealed and polished just like brand new. Buyers shall also receive a 1-year hardware warranty card, official refurbished certification as well as the complete accessories like the S-pen and charger out of the box.
According to Windows Report, the reselling of refurbished Surface units hinted an upcoming release of a new hybrid tablet. It is rumored that Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro 5 will be the next in line in the Surface line any time in the fourth quarter of this year.
Bottomline is if you truly want a durable and high performing hybrid device without minding that the unit is preowned and a year out-of-date, then Microsoft's discounted offering is perfect for you. But if still want that awesome feeling of unboxing a brand new unit fresh from the store, might as well wait for the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2.
