Syfy channel has an upcoming series based on the home world of Superman called "Krypton." The series has already found its female lead in Georgina Campbell.

Deadline reported that the actress will take the role of Lyta Zod, who is a military cadet and a daughter of General Alura Zod, a renowned figure in the Kryptonian society. The story will be involving a "Romeo and Juliet"-esque where Lyta Zod will have a secret relationship with Seg-El (who is yet to be cast), Superman's grandfather.

Georgina Campbell is a British actress working her way up in Hollywood. She starred in British shows such as "After Hours," "Tripped" and "One Night." Campbell won a BAFTA award on 2015 for best leading actress in the drama "Murdered By My Boyfriend."

The events of the show will be set two generations before the birth of Kal-El (AKA Clark Kent or Superman) and the destruction of the planet. Aside from the "forbidden romance" between Lyta Zod and Seg-El, the story will center on Seg-El regaining his honor after his family, the House of El, has been painted in a bad light.

According to Movie Pilot, that "Krypton" is simply a show about a science fictional world and culture rather than being a superhero series. In the alien world, Kryptonians do not possess super powers in their native atmosphere thus making them as normal as humans.

Even if it's a DC-inspired show, "Krypton" will not be referencing characters and villains from the comics as much as other superhero-based show, especially ones that tackle origins like Fox's "Gotham." The series will be its own show "in its own right."

"Krypton" will show the alien world in a new light, being more detailed and developed than what most people have seen in TV, films, and even the comics. The creators would be envisioning the world as caste-cased, with Lyta Zod's family as militaristic and Seg-El's family being focused on science and progress.

The show is still currently in production and Syfy has yet to reveal any release date on its pilot episode.
