‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ news: Released set photos teases connection to King Arthur lore

"Transformer: The Last Knight" is reportedly connected to the "King Arthur" lore based on leaked set photos.

The production crew for the film have been spotted on the Scottish Isle of Skye where scenes for the film is being shot. The actors were seen wearing medieval costumes and riding horses, BBC reported.

The upcoming film is the fifth instalment of the franchise. Paramount studios is yet to confirm the tie-in but the latest batch of set photos indicate the "King Arthur" connection.

Although the film will primarily take place in the modern era, a flashback sequence is possible if the story of the film will is tied to the mythology of "King Arthur." According to online speculations, "Transformer: The Last Knight" will draw heavily on the magical aspect of Arthurian legends. Recently, it was reported that fictional wizard Merlin is connected to an ancient Transformer, Cinema Blend reported.

Given the promotional photos released for the film, it won't be surprising to find out that the sword in the photo is the Excalibur. Surprisingly, not much about the plot of the film has been leaked and its stars are yet to be seen in official photos.

Mark Wahlberg will be back as Cade Yeager, Josh Duhamel is also returning as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox. The original cast will be joined by Sir Anthony Hopkins, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael and Laura Haddock in the upcoming instalment. 

"Transformer: The Last Knight" is directed by Michael Bay off a screenplay from Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan. The film is slated for release on June 23, 2017.
