Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, 38, during a recent book launch in Mumbai, revealed insights into India's cinema industry and touched on the unspoken, darker side of the colorful and glitzy world behind the camera.

The star of "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" was invited to the launch of the novel "Dark Things" by writer Sukanya Venkatraghavan. During an interview with IBN Live at the launch, she was asked about the darker aspects of being a Bollywood actress.

"Studios after shoot... Parties that only start after midnight. And, the third thing is, the insecurity that all of us feel from time to time," Balan told the publication, adding that she felt there is a dark side in each individual.

The actress added that it was only human to feel insecure, especially in a field where everything is reproduced, magnified and examined by society and media.

"It's human. Everyone feels insecure. I think in this industry where everything gets written about, every emotion gets magnified," Balan remarked.

The young actress, who made her debut in the drama "Parineeta" and went on to star in films such as "Paaa," "Kahaani" and "The Dirty Picture," spoke at the launch regarding her favourite genre, saying fiction was her all time favorite but that depends on her mood as well. The star of "Ishqiya" said, personally she felt she did not have an imagination or was not disciplined to be able to pen a book and commended the author on her fantasy novel.

Meanwhile, the young actress recently concluded shooting for her latest film called "TE3N." For her latest onscreen character, Balan plays the part of a female police officer and stars alongside Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan. In addition, popular actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also been cast in a leading role.

The film is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and is produced by Sujoy Ghosh, the same production crew that produced "Dirty Picture." However, this latest venture is a suspense thriller and is set in the city of Kolkata, the Indian Express reported.

The film marks the second time that Balan has worked with Bachchan. Previously, she played alongside him in the film "Paa," where she plays the role of a mother to Bachchan's character who suffers from the genetic disorder - Progeria. Balan won her first Best Actress Filmfare Award for her role in the movie.
