LaTanya Richardson Jackson has landed a role on "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. The "Luke Cage" actress will play Maggie's (Kelly McCreary) mother, Diana, in an upcoming episode.

In a report from Entertainment Weekly, a trio of first look photos have been released featuring the arrival of Maggie's adoptive mother, Diana, on Grey Sloan Memorial. According to the site, details on what brings Diana to visit her daughter at the hospital are still under wraps. But she is expected to first appear on the show's Feb. 9th episode.

As previously revealed, Maggie's adoptive parents are getting divorce. Whether or not this storyline is linked to Diana's arrival to Seattle is yet to be known. Judging from the photos released, it seems that Maggie is not expecting her mother's visit. A second photo also teases that Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Wiliams) will be the first among Maggie's colleagues to meet Diana.

Fans will recall that Maggie is the biological daughter of Dr. Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and the late Ellis Grey (Kate Burton). Her introduction to the medical drama in season 10 caused some tension with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), who was first hesitant to have a relationship with her. Eventually, Meredith accepted Maggie as her half-sister and they are now living together under the same roof.

"Grey's Anatomy" will resume its thirteenth season with a prison-themed standalone episode. Titled "You Can Look (But You'd Better Not Touch), ABC has revealed that the episode will find Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Jo (Camilla Luddington) go to a maximum security women's prison to treat a violent, 16-year-old pregnant girl and her unborn baby. It will air on Thursday, Jan. 26th.

Created and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, "Grey's Anatomy" also stars Justin Chambers, Owen McKidd, Sarah Drew, Caterina Scorsone, Jerrika Hinton, Jason George, Martin Henderson and Giacomo Gianniotti.
