Corey Hawkins tells more about his character in "Kong: Skull Island," while keeping the name a mystery for now.

With the release date getting closer for the highly-anticipated reboot of the King Kong franchise, more details have been revealed so far regarding the plot and the characters. One thing hasn't been revealed yet though, which is the name of Hawkin's character in "Kong: The Skull Island". The actor divulged a few details on his character's background instead.

In a recent press panel, the actor was asked about his character's name, and Corey Hawkins seem surprised that it wasn't revealed yet, then later admitted that he's not supposed to disclose it for now, as per Collider. But he shared instead why his character was sent to Skull Island.

His character is a geologist who has just freshly graduated from Yale, and excited for a chance to explore an unknown, exotic place. Hawkins reminded the fans that "Kong: Skull Island" is set during the 1970s, so information about unknown islands aren't as freely available compared to now, according to Cinema Blend.

Perhaps the name of Hawkin's character is integral to the movie's plot, which is why it's still being kept under wraps His name might shed a clue as to his character's motivation in joining the expedition to Skull Island, apart from being a fresh grad intent to explore the world. Other major characters have already been revealed so far, such as Captain James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) and Weaver (Brie Larson).

The actor was also pressed for more details regarding the movie. Hawkins explained that in "Kong: Skull Island," the tone of the set was also the tone of "Kong: Skull Island". He added that despite the seriousness, there was also some moments of levity and said that while there's not a lot of humor, it's sometimes necessary to get through.
