Actress and model Disha Patani, 20, who is popular as Indian heartthrob Tiger Shroff's girlfriend, has bagged a meaty role in a forthcoming international movie "Kung Fu Yoga." The newbie actress will play the love interest of Jackie Chan's character.

The venture is seemingly a giant leap for the Indian actress, whose Bollywood debut movie is yet to be released. She was earlier seen in a Telugu film "Loafer."

Not much is known about Patani's role in the much-awaited movie but it is rumored that she will display her action skills extensively. She will play an archaeology professor who is an expert at advanced level yoga as well as martial arts techniques and is seemingly helping Chan's character in his quest to find India's Magadha treasure in Tibet, Times Of India has learned.

Patani is the third big Indian name to join the cast of upcoming adventure film that is being directed by Stanley Tong. The cross-cultural, multi-language movie also stars Indian actress star Amyra Dastur and Sonu Sood of "Dabangg" fame.

The shooting of the movie has already started and is currently in full swing in Beijing. A major portion has already been shot in Dubai while some scenes will be shot in India too. The movie is scheduled for a 2016 release. It is yet not known when Patani is leaving for Beijing to film for the action-comedy flick.

Meanwhile, the first runner-up Femina Miss India 2013 is also busy shooting her first Bollywood movie, "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story." The movie is based upon the personal and professional life of M.S. Dhoni, one of the greatest Indian cricket captain under whom India had won several trophies. Patani will be playing the role of Dhoni's girlfriend.

"As there was no reference for the character, we were looking out for a young and vivacious girl. Disha fits the bill perfectly," India Today quoted a source close to the movie as saying.

While Kiara Advani bagged the role of Dhoni's wife, the titular role in the upcoming biopic will be played by Sushant Singh Rajput, who was last seen on the silver screen in "Byomkesh Bakshi." Rajput has reportedly undergone rigorous training to portray the iconic sportsman and has already wrapped up a major part of the movie.
