Philippines local television has reportedly become more open in showing and promoting gay and lesbian relationships.

Over the weekend, both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 aired a lesbian and gay-centered episode on their rival shows "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and "Magpakailanman."

In "MMK's" episode, entitled, "Magkaribal," Joross Gamboa played the role of a gay man who fell in love with another male character.

However, the surprising twist was later on revealed, and it had something to do with Polo Ravales' character having a wife.

At one point, the plot of the episode became even more shocking when Gamboa's character discovered that Ravales' character's wife was pregnant.

Sashi was heartbroken over Rex's reveal, but the transgender character decided to stay with the man she truly loves.

Roxanne Guinoo's character Fats was devastated to find out that she was sharing her partner with a transgender character, but they eventually made things work.

In fact, when Rex left Fats and Sashi for another woman, the two characters united to help each other deal with their breakup.

Towards the end of the episode, Rex returned and Fats decided to give him another chance. However, it didn't take them very long to realize that they are better off with Rex, according to PEP.ph.

Meanwhile, "Magpakailanman's" episode, entitled, "Dalawang Babae, Isang Anak" saw Lovie Poe's Jack getting into a relationship with a woman named Kat (Louise de los Reyes).

In the episode, it was revealed that Jack was raped by her boss and got pregnant. Since the baby wasn't planned, Jack sought help from Kat who was there through it all.

Unfortunately, Jack and Kat had a hard time raising the former's baby so at one point, Kat asked helped from her mom. Jack didn't want Kat to seek such help so she decided to let her go.

However, Kat stayed true to their promise to stay together no matter how challenging things get.

In other news, this is not the first time that the Philippines aired TV show episodes that centered on gays and lesbians.

In fact, throughout the past couple of years, Filipino audiences have become more accepting of these kinds of topics.
