Fans may not always know it, but sometimes behind an idol's smile is a difficulty we never knew they have encountered. And just like the ordinary people, Super Junior's Leeteuk had experienced what it feels like to carry the world over your shoulder.

According to Allkpop, Leeteuk has suffered from depression while completing his mandatory military service. Amid service for the nation, the Super Junior revealed three family members died while he was away, which he considered as the most difficult phase of his life.

"While I was in the mandatory military service, I was struggling with depression, and I heard the news of the family death news; it was a very difficult period," Leeteuk said.

According to reports, Leeteuk's grandparents were allegedly killed by his own father, who later committed suicide by hanging himself. In the crime scene where the bodies were located, police found a note which is likely intended for the Super Junior member.

The note stated, "Do you think you succeeded alone?"

Aside from the note, Leeteuk added his father allegedly left about 5 billion won debt, forcing him to sell his own car and increase his working hours to pay for the liability. The Super Junior member revealed he is still paying his father's debt until now, stating that it is the right thing to do.

Meanwhile, Leeteuk's story touched the hearts of his fans who expressed their empathy towards the idol. "I can't even begin to imagine how difficult this must have been, especially since he's been keeping it in this whole time," a fan wrote.

On the other hand, Soompi reported Leeteuk is one of the MCs of the 2016 Super Seoul Dream Concert taking place on Nov. 27. The Super Junior member, Mingyu and Jin Se Yeon collaborated for the first time to host the event.

Some of the most popular K-pop idols performed during the 2016 Super Seoul Dream Concert including FTISLAND, GFRIEND, Red Velvet and a lot more.
