Veteran actor Ciaran Hinds confirmed to join the cast of "Justice League" as Steppenwolf. He noticed how director Zack Snyder and his production team are fans of his old movie "Excalibur."

Hinds confirmed his role in an interview with Indepndent. The 64-year-old actor said that Zack Snyder and his team are the fans of his old movie in 1981 "Excalibur," in which he played as King Lot. Their memory to see him in that movie might have landed him the role of Steppenwolf in "Justice League."

“They were great fans of Excalibur, Zack and his team. Maybe that’s how I got the role," Hinds said. He noticed how Snyder re-enacted the scene of "Excalibur" in "Batman v Superman" in the fight scene between Superman and Batman.

In the final scene of "Batman v Superman," the man of steel as the main character was impaled by a large spear. Hinds reminisced similar scene in "Excalibur," when the main character King Arthur was impaled by Mordred. Another clue that he noticed that the director of "Justice League" is fans of his old movie in in one scene, when the marquee in a cinema was playing his old movie.

His character, the villain in the "Justice League" Steppenwolf is one of the elite members of Darkseid clan, the New Gods. They are the ruler of Apokolips planet, inhabited by their kind along with Parademons and Dreggs. In the first trailer that was revealed at San Diego Comic Con in July last year, as reported by Hollywood Reporter, Steppenwolf was seen to hold Mother Box, the Darkseid technology.

In the comics, Mother Box is the technology invented by a scientist of Apokolips named Himon. It is a form of miniature and portable supercomputer that possess its own superpower. "Justice League" will reveal that Steppenwolf will use the Mother Box to rule the earth. Watch the report from IGN News regarding Hinds cast as Steppenwolf below:
