Heechul sat down for an interview to talk about his reaction to gay rumors, which have been going on for quite a while now. And just like his previous statements, the Super Junior member emphasized that he is attracted to women.

"I'm not gay. I like women. But I realized that if I say I'm not and vehemently deny it, it's rude and hurtful to people who are actually gay," Heechul said as cited by Allkpop.

He went on, "It's just a matter of preference, and it's just that everyone is different with different values. I decided I don't care even if people who have prejudices about me think that way."

The 33-year-old singer shared these rumors even reached the group chat of Super Junior members and their respective managers. However, Heechul did not realize he was the subject until he read the entire post.

"The members and I laughed a lot about it. When the label asked if we should counter it, I said no," he said.

Heechul said he would only respond to rumors linking him to illegal matters. Still, the idol tried to change his looks to disprove the claims. He even tried to grow a beard and changed his haircut to appear manlier.

After his recent statement on gay rumors, the Super Junior member earned the praises of the netizens, particularly those who belong in the LGBTQ community as per Koreaboo.

Most of them were impressed that Heechul was being considerate of other people's opinion. "He handled this so well. It's nice to see such a good response to rumors like that," a commenter said.

Another one posted, "That's one of Heechul's games. He likes to keep people guessing. Not being fazed by such rumors shows how mature he really is."

Well said, Heechul!
