Kim Hyun Joong will finally complete the mandatory military service on Saturday. Despite being on a hiatus for over a year, the "Boys Over Flowers" actor has decided to give his fans a short greeting on Feb. 11.

"Kim Hyun Joong is being discharged on the 11th. He's only going to have a short greeting," KeyEast confirmed as per Allkpop.

The 30-year-old singer-actor started his military service in May 2015. But before he enlisted, Kim Hyun Joong was mired in controversy when his ex-girlfriend was reported to be pregnant.

The "Boys Over Flowers" actor promised to take responsibility only if proven that the reports are true. However, Kim Hyun Joong's label revealed his ex-girlfriend was nowhere to be found when the news broke; thus, they could not confirm the legality of the claims.

Before his enlistment, the Korean actor was sued by his ex-girlfriend for alleged mental damages. Amid ongoing legal battle between the ex-lovers, previous reports of domestic violence involving Kim Hyun Joong resurfaced on the internet.

Reports claimed the actor was reported for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend in 2014. The incident reportedly resulted to a fractured rib; however, the charges were dropped when the actor paid the settlement of 600 million KRW.

Kim Hyun Joong's long-winded legal battle against his ex-girlfriend continues as the prosecution indicted the latter on charges of libel and fraud on Jan. 6. According to Soompi, the decision came after the prosecution found out that the actor's ex-girlfriend reportedly manipulated the evidence she presented before the court.

It was also revealed that the ex-girlfriend reportedly intended to alter the pieces of evidence for the compensation. Further reports stated Kim Hyun Joong's ex-girlfriend will have to face the first trial for fraud and libel charges on March 30.

Following the indictment, Kim Hyun Joong dedicated a handwritten to his family and fans. The "Boys Over Flowers" actor said the controversy against his ex-girlfriend made him realize that he is a weak person.

However, Kim Hyun Joong added he was able to endure the difficulties because of the support of his family and fans. Before he ended his letter, the actor thanked his fans and expressed his desire to meet them again.
