Gong Minzy's much-awaited solo debut might be happening this year as the former 2NE1 member hinted for a comeback through a recent V-app live session.

According to Allkpop, the idol promised to meet her fans with a new release. "In the first half of 2017, I will be meeting everyone with my album," Gong Minzy said.

Previous reports stated the former 2NE1 member has been planning to make her solo debut since she joined Music Works in May. Initially, Gong Minzy scheduled her comeback in November.

The label revealed Gong Minzy has been working with several producers for her upcoming album. However, the singer reportedly failed to select the perfect single that would fit her.

"We are focusing on producing a first solo album which can portray all of Gong Minzy's talent and potential. We will continue the preparations without being chased by time," Music Works revealed.

The 23-year-old singer made her debut with 2NE1 in 2009. Gong Minzy announced her departure from the girl group and YG Entertainment in April 2016. Simultaneously, the idol announced her future plans as a solo artist.

Months after Gong Minzy's departure from the YG girl group, 2NE1 announced they are disbanding after seven years. As a farewell gift to all Blackjacks, the three members of the band released their final song "Good Bye" on Jan. 20.

Many fans were disappointed after learning that Gong Minzy did not participate in the making of the farewell song. However, the former 2NE1 took to her Instagram account to reveal that she was not directly informed about the track as per Soompi.

"It's a shame that I had to find out 2NE1 will be releasing their final album through a news article," Gong Minzy wrote, expressing her dismay as a former member of the girl group.

Despite that, Gong Minzy thanked the fans for their love to 2NE1 since the band started. The singer is also hopeful fans will continue their outpouring support to each member in their respective careers.
