It looks like we'll be getting another classic reboot hitting the big screen once again, which is going to be "Starship Troopers" by Columbia Pictures.

"Starship Troopers" to have "Baywatch" reboot writers and "Total Recall" remake producers

Based on reports by The Hollywood Reporter, the writers of the film will be Mark Swift and Damian Shannon. The two have actually written other recent works like for the upcoming reboot of "Baywatch," which will star actors like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron. The ones producing the "Starship Troopers" reboot will be Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe, who were also behind the "Total Recall" remake.

"Starship Troopers" reboot to be more based on the classic 1959 sci-fi novel

The "Starship Troopers" reboot by Columbia Pictures will not be remake of the 1997 film. Instead it will be based more on the even more original same source material which is the sci-fi novel authored by Robert A. Heinlein back in 1959. The story of the original "Starship Troopers", of course, will still be based on the intergalactic conflict between mankind and a race of ravenous alien bugs.

Just a little recap of the 1997 film cast; "Starship Troopers" in other movies and media

There hasn't been any mention of a director yet, as well as actors. IGN did a little bit of recap of the 1997 "Starship Troopers" film that starred Casper van Dien, Denise Richards, Jake Busey and even Neil Patrick Harris. The film had three sequels, "Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation" (2004), "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder" (2008) and "Starship Troopers: Invasion (2012)" that all went straight-to-DVD releases.

"Starship Troopers" also even numerous other media adaptations such as the animated series, "Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles" back in August 1999, and numerous other forms such as video games, novels, video games, and more.
