Mercedes-Benz, a German luxurious car manufacturer, has come up with a new concept car Vision Van, which can be used as drone-delivery van of the future.

According to Tech Crunch, the Vision Van has an opening at the roof which allows the drone Matternet M2 to pick the packages, while the roof acts like a launching pad for the Matternet's new 'Matternet M2' drone. The Vision Van is equipped with well designed features like the on-board and cloud based system, which allows the drone to pick the packages automatically as programmed with the help of robotic shelving system inside the van.

The drone manufacturing company has developed Matternet M2 in such a way that it can pick and carry a package of 4.4 pounds across 12 miles of sky on a single battery charge, and are very well designed to reload their payload and swap batteries without human involvement. The drone has hard-shelled case to protect the packages and it has the capability to transmit signals related to package type, contents, time of delivery and delivery destinations.

Places with traffic, disaster stricken areas or any inaccessible areas where the Vision Van cannot enter to such places the application of this Matternet M2 drone is at its best. This Concept not only helps in reducing time but also enhances right package delivery to right person at right time.

"Through this partnership, we are building solutions that will dramatically reduce the time and cost of on-demand delivery," said Andreas Raptopoulos, co-founder and CEO of Matternet.

Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans said "With our Vision Van, we are going beyond the vehicle". He added "We have been working closely with Matternet to create the world's first fully connected and automated cargo van with integrated delivery drones."

According to Fortune, Daimler AG will be investing $562 million over the next five years to develop an advanced ecosystem of vans, flying drones, and robots.

The invention of drones is considered to be one of the best innovative devices made by the engineers. The drone technology is being utilized in different applications currently in the world. Mercedes-Benz is well known for its innovative techniques - gives the best experience to the owners. Mercedes-Benz Vans and drone tech start up Matternet have created a concept car called as Vision Van which enables to deliver small packages across small distances without any human efforts.

The companies are conducting trials to learn the efficiency of the drones. Stay tuned for more updates.
