The incredibly addictive video of Sistar's "Touch My Body" appeared on an episode of Fox's animated show "Family Guy."
The video made its debut on the American cartoon show as it widened its reach to a rather different demographic on Saturday night. One of the scenes showed the colorful music video of Sistar.
The episode entitled "Candy, Quahog Marshmallow" followed Peter and the gang as they found out Quagmire has a past as an Asian drama star. Peter, Joe and Cleveland then flies to Korea to look for the final tape of the lost series.
Being immersed into a different culture, the guys are introduced to popular K-pop girl group Sistar as a clip of their "Touch My Body" video from 2014 is played. While most become speechless, Peter intently inquires, "What is this? And how can I make the rest of my life about it?"
Peter and the gang basically embody the most typical reactions many K-pop newcomers have. With its colorful visuals and catchy hooks, it's not too hard to get a k-pop addiction ignited.
Sistar's "Touch My Body" video has garnered nearly 40 million views on YouTube to date. Family Guy also featured an English gag version of Hyuna's "Bubble Pop".
Sistar's music video was shown when Quagmire's Korean girlfriend tells the guys to watch K-pop music videos as she prepares dinner. The video appears to be an edit cut of the music video.
The second feature of K-pop acts is shown as Peter, Joe and Cleveland try to convince Quagmire to come back the U.S through a parody and satirical cover of Hyuna's music video. Other k-pop groups were referenced include KARA, Girls' Generation, miss A, f(x), Crayon Pop, Orange Caramel, EXO, 2PM and Psy.
While some fans found the video cameo entertaining, others found it to be rather insulting. K-pop and K-drama fans did not appreciate how the popular TV show portrayed both Korean music videos, as reported by Inquisitr.
In fact, many did not fancy how the episode portrayed fans in general, despite the controversial parts being meant to be taken as sarcasm. Many fans took to Twitter to criticize the show.
