Huawei Honor 8 is being marketed as an affordable device that is guaranteed to receive continuous software updates over two years and a bit more afterwards. Honor, a Huawei sub-brand, is also promising a 24-month period of providing new features and security updates to its users regularly after the the product launch.

Huawei Honor 8 is suggested to get updates, including new features which are not limited to bug fixes alone. Reportedly, within its first year, Honor is planning to roll out major updates at least once every three months. This practically means that there might be at least four major updates within the first 12 months of the Huawei Honor 8's life, Phone Arena reported.

In addition, Huawei Honor 8 is also expected to receive security updates and bug fixes in a timely manner. However, it is not clear whether Honor plans to release monthly security updates similar to what Google does.

Moreover, Honor also promises to go the extra mile and plans to release very important security updates to Huawei Honor 8 devices even beyond the initial 24-month period. It is important to note, however, that there are OEMs who have a track record of forgetting their promises of updates after 2 years, so it is not a solid assurance.

Huawei Honor 8 is suggested to be integrated with Android 7.0 Nougat. However, the company has not provided a solid confirmation about it. Some rumored premium specs of Huawei Honor 8 include a Kirin 950 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch Full HD screen display and a dual camera sensor similar to Huawei's P9 device, Slash Gear reported.

Huawei Honor 8 price points are set as $400 for the 32GB of storage and $450 for 64GB of storage. The device is reportedly available in unlocked and SIM-free version. It means that users have the option to pick between an AT&T SIM card and T-Mobile SIM or any SIMs from generally prepaid brands that use their networks. Watch Huawei Honor 8 review here.
