Director and producer Karan Johar, 43, in a recent interview revealed that he is maintaining his "youth quotient" in the Indian film industry in a bid to launch the career of Aryan Khan, son of "Bollywood  Baadshah" Shah Rukh Khan.

While it is well -known that Johar and Khan are close, the TV host told the Hindustan Times during an interview that he owes the King of Bollywood and Aditya Chopra  for paving the way for his career as a film-maker.

Johar said that Khan is "more than family" to him, adding, "my equation with him has moved from him to his kids now. I always tell him that I am going to maintain my youth quotient only because I want to launch Aryan. No one else can launch Aryan but me."

Johar who looked back on his career during the interview commended Khan for his support and said, "Working with him has taught me everything about movies. His technical expertise and intuition as an actor has made me a better film-maker. It was them (Chopra and Khan) who made me realize that perhaps I have the potential to become a director. Otherwise, it didn't cross my mind."

Meanwhile, Johar is currently shooting his forthcoming film "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil," with a cast that comprises actors Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who made her comeback in 2015 with the film "Jazbaa."

The film-maker elaborated on his choice of cast members for his latest film and how the former Miss Universe star came to be placed in his newest venture, during an interview with the Times of India .

"I have always wanted to work with Aishwarya. She and I have missed working with each other on several opportunities. Then at one juncture, I wanted to cast her in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and things didn't work. It's been a hit-and-miss scenario with her literally. This time we hit it, literally. And it's a very special role," Johar told the publication.

Furthermore, Johar said that his latest cinematic venture, which is set to be released in June this year, deals with love and conflict adding, "It's a film that dwells deeply on relationships, heartbreaks and how love completes you, defines you and yet leaves you wanting for more. I have never had, in my entire career, a film that has come to me so fast, so organically and so from within."
