"Somewhere Only We Know" wrapped up filming recently, and the cast and crew of one of the most anticipated movies of the year treated fans with a press conference held in Beijing on September 11.
The press conference was held to officially draw filming to a close and to start the countdown to its premier in 2015. Among those present in the event were Director Xu Jinglei, Re Yizha, Zhang Chao, Wang Likun, and Wu Yifan.
The venue was decorated in a romantic way, adorned with post boxes, a real piano and things evocative of the beautiful city Prague.
Wu Yifan serenaded the audience with his own performance of the famous John Legend song, "All of Me". His performance was accompanied by piano music, and the LED screen behind him showed snippets of the romantic scenes in the movie. He then added that he will showcase this talent in the movie itself.
After Wu Yifan finished his piece, the rest of the cast members joined in and entertained questions regarding the film's plot and their experiences on set. They reminisced the moments when they would play billiards, of which the cast said that the best player among them was in fact, their director, Xu Jinglei.
Playful banter between the cast members delighted the fans, especially when Director Xu gave Wu Yifan a tounge twister to recite. They also revealed the strict diet that he had to go through in order to match his image with Ze Yang's, his character whom he says is arrogant, complicated, and introverted by nature.
A reel of several intense scenes, funny moments and behind-the-scenes happenings was shown.
The cast also performed the "kelp dance", which was released on the movie's official Weibo page a couple of weeks ago. It was noticed that Wu Yifan lost his tempo several times, but rather than disappointing the fans, it actually made them more satisfied.
"Somewhere Only We Know" is Wu Yifan's debut in acting.
"Somewhere Only We Know" is a present-day romantic story of a young woman's battle with her grief following the death of a family member and a breakup. Her voyage to Prague provided her with a sense of comfort, especially when she met a man that proved that fairytales existed.
The film will be released on February 15.
