James, 31, had been anticipated to take the same one-year contract he signed for the two prior seasons since his retaliation to Cleveland. In spite of that, he manifested to stay with the team longer to acquire more championships, as reported by CBC.
"I'm re-signing back with the Cleveland Cavaliers, man, my hometown team, and I couldn't be more excited with this opportunity once again man, to defend our crown, defend our title," James said in a posting on the athletes' web platform Uninterrupted.
Three-time champion James' new deal for three years amounted to $100 million. His salary in 2017 to 2018 amounting to $33 million is so far considered the highest for a single season in the league history. It does make sense since he was able to deliver his promise to bagging the championship for the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to CBS Sports Digital.
James, whose real name is LeBron Raymone James started his NBA career when Cleveland Cavaliers chose him in the 2003 NBA draft. Season 2004 to 2005 earned him his initial NBA All-Star Game picking where his contribution added to the winning effort in the Eastern conference.
