There are rumors claiming that the Apple MacBook Pro line of laptops will get a major overhaul soon. The new laptops will have a more powerful graphics processor, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, touch screen strip for function keys, and will be significantly thinner compared to the current models.

According to Bloomberg, these new models of the Apple MacBook Pro have been in advanced testing within the company since the start of this year. Despite this interesting development about the laptop, sources told Bloomberg that it will not be unveiled at any upcoming Apple event.

Although the MacBook Pro is one of the most powerful and interesting device under Apple's belt, the laptop did not receive any upgrade of major importance over the past few years. The last major upgrade made to the MacBook Pro was in 2012 when Apple added that Retina display.

If these rumors are true, perhaps the most interesting feature of the upcoming MacBook Pro model will be the touch-screen strip. This feature will be added just above the keyboard and will serve as a replacement for the traditional physical function keys. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the strip-keys will have OLED-based icons, according to CNet. Kuo also said that the icons will change their behavior based on what feature or application they are being used for.

Apple is currently scheduled to release a new version of its Mac operating system, nicknamed Sierra, this fall. This new version of Apple's OS will bring Siri, new messaging and photo management features, as well as new iCloud integration into the Mac operating system. These new upgrades will most likely be included in the rumored new models of the MacBook Pro.

The new Apple MacBook Pro are also expected to feature USB Type-C ports, a feature that is getting more common among newly released tech devices. This will allow users to charge compatible devices faster and more efficient compared to older USB technologies. There are also rumors claiming that Apple may release the new MacBook Pro in different colors including silver, gold, and gray.
