Game company Blizzard Entertainment has announced that they are back online as the DDoS attacks on their system has ended.
"The DDoS attacks from earlier have ended and players can now log into BattleNet," reads the post on the Blizzard Customer Service Twitter page. "We are investigating reports of World Server Down in WoW."

The Distributed Denial-of-Service attack took place on Tuesday, Aug. 2, and lasted for a few hours. It affected the stability of the developer's BattleNet games as well as the latency/connections. This type of attack floods and overloads the targeted servers or systems, making them unavailable to gamers or real users.
In their initial tweet, the company said that there were reports of login issues. They then gave gamers updates, saying that it was an attack on their BattleNet game servers and that they were actively monitoring it.
Attack of the Fanboy claims that the motive was revenge against Blizzard for having recently banned a number of gamers from playing "Overwatch." According to the website, they were no longer allowed to play because of cases of hacking or cheating just so they can have the advantage over other honest players.
Meanwhile, Blizzard posted a newer tweet, saying that there's a separate issue that is hounding the said game. It says, "[#Overwatch] We're investigating an issue that disconnected players. This was not a DDoS event and we are working on a resolution."

"Overwatch" is first-person squad-based multiplayer game and involves two teams, each team having six players. Every player has to choose one hero character from the four classes (Offense, Defense, Support, and Tank), with each hero having its own skills. Players must work together to either defend or secure a place on the map.
