Ten-year NBA pro Rudy Gay seems like he is facing a crossroad in his professional career at the moment as he allegedly looks for team stability with his current club, the Sacramento Kings, but referred to the Los Angeles Clippers as the kind of franchise that properly caters veterans like him.
In a recent interview with Sactown Royalty's Blake Ellington where he willingly disclosed all of his issues with his current squad, the reporter asked him what he is looking for as a player at this stage of his career. His answer was quite interesting as he pointed out Clippers players Jamal Crawford and Paul Pierce as examples of situations he wants to be in.
"Stability. I feel like I still have a lot of years left. With stability, look at people like Jamal Crawford, look at people like Paul Pierce, a lot of people," Gay said. "When they have that stability and they know what their worth is for a team and what their job is for a team, how they can work on that and play for that team."
The 29-year-old small forward then admitted that he felt that kind of stability early in Sacramento, but maybe not right now.
"Yeah, (I felt that way about this team) when I got here. That's why I signed my contract. I feel like there was direction at that point."
Evidently, his answer initiated rumors that he thinks the Kings are going nowhere right now and could be an indication that of his desire to get traded and move to another team next season, not necessarily the Clippers.
Aside from his own standing as a player, Gay also gave his opinion on Vlade Divac's front office tenure, the "bizarre selection" of Greek teenager Georgios Papagiannis with the team's 13th pick last June, and the "troubling" continuous changing of coaches, as per Fansided.
The report noted that Gay's mention of Crawford and Pierce is just perhaps "top of his head" examples just to make a point at that particular moment. Although, it also indicates of his subconscious approval towards the LA franchise that he thinks they "can offer the kind of stability that he's looking for".
