Marvel has a new Iron Man character, a black woman who personally built her red suit of armor in a dorm room. Riri Williams, a 15-year-old black girl, is the latest character to be introduced to the growing number of diverse heroes of Marvel Comics.

The lady Iron Man news was based on an interview with the veteran Marvel writer Brian Michael Brendis. However, it is still unclear if she will be named Iron Man, Time Magazine reported.

Bendis told Time Magazine that Williams will join Iron Man after she catches the attention of Tony Stark. His idea came up while he was working in Chicago a couple of years ago. He was inspired by a young black woman who made it to college despite facing street violence.

The Marvel writer wanted to create a superhero who is suffering from the street violence of the Windy City. He pictures the new girl Iron Man to use her struggles as inspiration for wanting to make the world a better place.

The girl Iron Man will use her keen mind for science to help protect the citizens of America. Instead of making her a vigilante, the Marvel writer Bendis wanted Riri to finde innovative ways to help people living in empty pockets have better lives.

Marvel Comics' move to create a female superhero reportedly faces big issues. According to Bendis, unfortunately, there are racist individuals who have problems with Iron Man being a black woman. He also added that for him, it is important to tell stories from different perspectives and the creation of Williams felt entirely organic.

The lady Iron Man maker Bendis also hopes that writers and other comic creators will do more to reflect the world they live in, Gizmodo reported. He added that one of his biggest regrets was not doing that in the first place. However, with characters like Miles Morales and Riri Williams, they are trying to make a difference.
