Kanye West apparently offended Lena Dunham with the recently released music video for his song Famous.
Dunham, known for her HBO series Girls, slammed West in a Facebook post. She described the scenes depicted in West's latest music video "disturbing."
In the video, a group of famous people including Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Ray J, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, George W. Bush, and Bill Cosby are seen lying naked on one giant bed with West and his wife, Kim Kardashian. While the naked bodies are only wax figures, Dunham considers Kanye's take on art offensive to women.
"I don't have a hip cool reaction, because seeing a woman I love like Taylor Swift (fuck that one hurt to look at, I couldn't look), a woman I admire like Rihanna or Anna, reduced to a pair of waxy breasts made by some special effects guy in the Valley, it makes me feel sad and unsafe and worried for the teenage girls who watch this," Dunham said in her statement.
The 30-year-old showrunner/actress also addressed the Stanford rape case, Bill Cosby's crimes and the effects of cyber-bullying on young girls committing suicide.
"It gives me such a sickening sense of dis-ease," she continued.
West recently discussed the concept behind his Famous video, saying that it was not made to target any specific person.
"It's not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]," West told Vanity Fair. "It's a comment on fame."
Kanye revealed that the visual interpretation behind Famous is inspired by the work of American realist painter, Vincent Desiderio. The track is part of West's Life of Pablo album where he directly addressed Taylor Swift in one of the lines of his songs saying: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? / I made that b**ch famous."
