Actress Kim Min Hee has talked about her "magnetic character" Lady Hideko in Park Chan Wook's The Handmaiden.

The actress, in an interview with Segye Ilbo, said that "The fact that I can display something that I haven't done before and a whole different side to me is fun." She continued saying she was able to pull out new emotions and express those. And for Park Chan Wook's masterpiece, "my attraction to the character was stronger than normal."

Meanwhile, when asked if she shrugged at the thought of being naked in front of the cam plus with another woman, the actress said she decided to take the role upon initially reading the script.

"After reading the script I thought that I wanted to do [the movie], and out of courtesy I did have to think about it so I'll say that I considered it for three days," she revealed. "For the 'bed scene,' there were exact instructions on how to go about it so that's what I did. I don't think I had particular difficulties."

In fact, Kim Min Hee admitted that perfectly portraying Hideko's multiple personas was way more challenging that the 'bed scene.'

"In the first and second parts [of the movie], Hideko acts entirely different but I think that she inherently possessed both of those images. Hideko may seem mysterious and charismatic but at the same time, she is very human and innocent," she said. "Because I empathized with her, I was more drawn to her."

The Handmaiden successfully broke Korea's record garnering nearly $11 million on its opening week. The film, which opened in local theaters on Wednesday, June 1, has attracted over 1.8 million viewers.
