A surprising NBA trade has been done earlier today as the Sacramento Kings sent DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi to the New Orleans Pelicans. In return, the Pelicans sent 3 of their role players, including the rookie Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans and Langston Galloway.

According to the ESPN, the New Orleans Pelicans thinks that they can re-sign the big-man DeMarcus Cousins next year as his contract is about to expire this summer. A source confirmed that the Pelicans knew that Cousins will consider re-signing since he is from the nearby Mobile, Alabama.

Jarinn Akana, Cousins' agent once said that Cousins might not opt to re-sign with any of the teams that he would be traded with. Despite this statement, the Pelicans' management has a strong confidence that they would actually retain him next summer.

Over the past month, DeMarcus Cousins' name was often involved in numerous NBA trade rumors. He has been the talk of the show not only because of his on-court attitude, but also due to his issues with the team's management.

The Bleacher Report said that the Kings owner Vivek Ranadive is not happy with Cousins' at all due to his continuous uneven behavior. Aside from this reason, the Kings are uncertain of Cousins that he would re-sign with the team next summer.

Although DeMarcus Cousins once said that he wants to end his NBA career with the Kings, the team decided to deal him out. The Kings still decided to deal him out, making sure that they would get something in return before Cousins leave the their team.

Today, with the return of Tyreke Evans, the Kings will now have a replacement for Rudy Gay as he already announced his departure this summer, opting not to re-sign with the team. The Kings also received Buddy Hield, a known potential superstar that might become one of the Kings' franchise players.

On the other hand, Cousins will be teaming up with his co-All-Star Anthony Davis. The Pelicans will now have a strong chance to climb up to the Playoffs, if not this season, it might be next year, if the Pelicans could convince DeMarcus Cousins to re-sign with them.
