The eighth installment for the "Fast and Furious" franchise released its new trailer during this year's "Super Bowl" on CBS. The event is an annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL).

In the trailer, we can see Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) on their honeymoon, with rest of the family exonerated living in pretense of a normal life. However, Dominic will be lured into a world of crime where he can't seem to escape by a new villain, which will be played by Charlize Theron, Variety reported.

As the family faces a new set of trials, the rules of the games have also changed. Even Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) are seen joining forces.

Theron will be joining newcomers Helen Mirren and Kristofer Hivju in the series. Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris will also return in the series.

"Fast and Furious" franchise had proven a reliable bet for Universal with the previous installment "Fast and Furious 7" grossing a $1.5 billion USD worldwide, including a $1.1 billion USD overseas alone, including a $391 million USD high-record in China for a Hollywood release, Forbes reported. It is also the last installment which feature the late star Paul Walker, one of the series' main character.

Preparation for the film immediately began after the release of "Fast and Furious 7." In April and June 2015, casting for the film took place.

By October in the same year, F. Gary Gray who is known for directing the 2015 film "Straight Outta Compton," was announced to direct the upcoming series. Principal photography then began the following year in Myvatn, Havana, Atlanta, Cleveland, and New York City, continuing the series legacy of filming in different locations around the globe.

"The Fate of the Furious" is slated for release on Apr. 14.
