The New York Knicks (21-28) are scheduled to meet the Washington Wizards (27-20) at the Verizon Center on Tuesday, Jan. 31 as the 2016-2017 NBA regular season continues.

Preview

New York continued to be on a downward spiral as the team has lost six of their last nine matches. They are now 11th in the East, two-and-a-half games behind current eighth-seeded team Charlotte Hornets.

The Knicks are coming off a draining 142-139 four-overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night on the road at the Philips Arena for their second defeat in three games, as per the New York Daily News.

Carmelo Anthony led head coach Jeff Hornacek's boys with 45 points on 18-for-36 shooting. He also had six rebounds and four assists in 46 minutes of play before fouling out with 12.9 seconds left in the second OT.

Brandon Jennings, who filled in for injured starter Derrick Rose, had a double-double of 18 points and 11 assists with three boards while Courtney Lee added 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Kristaps Porzingis was the fourth player in the starting five that scored in double figures with 15 points, five boards, and three shot blocks before fouling out. Joakim Noah had 14 rebounds, six points, five assists, three steals, and two blocks before fouling out as well.

Off the bench, Justin Holiday and Mindaugas Kuzminskas fired 15 and 13 points respectively while Kyle O'Quinn grabbed 12 boards and blocked three shots.

Meanwhile, the Wizards are still on a roll, winning eight of their last nine games. The team is fifth in the East right now, a half-game below fourth-place squad Hawks and two games ahead of sixth-running team Indiana Pacers.

Washington routed the New Orleans Pelicans, 107-94, on the road at the Smoothie King Center also last Sunday for their fourth consecutive victory, NBC Sports reported.

Bradley Beal top-scored for head coach Scott Brooks' squad with 27 points, six rebounds, and two assists while John Wall had an amazing double-double of 18 points and 19 assists with two steals.

Markieff Morris contributed 21 points and eight rebounds while Marcin Gortat added 17 markers with 11 boards and two assists. Otto Porter Jr. rounded out the excellent performance of the starters with 13 points, six rebounds, and four steals.

Prediction 

The Knicks are 8-17 on the road this season while the Wizards are 19-6 at home. A big win for Washington is predicted.
