Celtics is reported to start a negotiation with Orlando Magic about possibility to bring center Nikola Vucevic to Boston.

Vucevic has been in the trade rumor for some time and Orlando Magic will take a big gamble to move their main big man to replenish their roster. According to CSN New England, Celtics have initiated a conversation with the Magic for potential deal to get Vucevic.

Celtics are interested to get the versatile center to strengthen their front court. The 7’0” center is the double-double specialist in points and rebounds which will be a great tandem for Al Horford. Boston Celtics currently ranked second in the Eastern Conference and they want to fully arm themselves in both front court and back court.

However, according to CBS Sports, Celtics are not in urgent need to get another center. They have no problem in the offense, as they ranked seventh for the best offense in the league, while their big men are very skillful in scoring. However, they need to improve their defense, as they are in the 19th place in the defensive efficiency.

One important skill from Vucevic which is needed by the Celtics is his versatility in both end of the court. Furthermore, Boston Celtics have many players which Orlando Magic need to bring them into playoffs, the young players in wing position. They can offer Gerard Green or Terry Rozier for Vucevic, as the 26-year old center is not an expensive player despite his very high skill.

In regard to his trade rumor, Vucevic acknowledged there have been many of those he heard this season. But he tried to focus on the game and giving the best to the team

“I haven’t paid attention to it. I don’t read that much,” Vucevic said. “At the end of the day, what happens, happens.”
