Danny Boyle and Ewan McGregor collaborative efforts is on display once again with the upcoming movie "T2: Trainspotting." Released after 20 years from the original, fan anticipation is at its fever pitch as the return of the director and the actor also marks the rekindling of their long lost friendship.

Three Feature Films

The original "Trainspotting" is the second collaboration of Doyle and McGregor. Before the cult hit, there was "Shallow Grave" and their third film was "A Life Less Ordinary." But their relationship has gone south after the third film because of the planned fourth film.

According to Vanity Fair, Boyle is supposed to work with McGregor in another film "The Beach." But the role, as history would tell went to Leonardo DiCaprio. The famous actor landed the role because of his massive popularity in the film "Titanic."

Since then, Boyle went through various projects without McGregor such as "127 Hours." McGregor, on the other hand was later known for role as Obi Wan Kenobi in the epic movie series "Star Wars."

But all's well that ends well with Boyle and McGregor with Boyle particularly grateful about the actor. According to Uproxx, the two recently appeared in the "Graham Norton Show" and Boyle stated that the actor handled the situation with "enormous grace and courage."

Sequel Update

The original "Trainspotting" was considered a social commentary of the excesses of the 90s. The upcoming sequel also has the same tone but with updated information such as dealing with social media and even just mobile interaction. Of course, the sequel will also play a different story as McGregor's character returns to his hometown after many years of absence.

It would be a very interesting take in the sequel considering everyone is a lot older although not much wiser. The film is expected for US release on March 17. Watch the trailer for the film below:
