After gaining so much popularity since the release of "BOOMBAYAH" and "WHISTLE" for their debut last year, fans have been waiting to know the official fandom name of BLACKPINK.
Hence on Jan. 16, Jennie confirmed BLINK as the official fandom name of the group through BLACKPINK's Instagram account, Soompi cited. Just a couple of days ago, the band hinted about the name when they uploaded a black photo with BLINK written on it in pink color.
Aside from the announcement, the BLACKNPINK member, who was celebrating her birthday on the same day, also expressed her gratitude to the fans for their all-out support.
"BLINK my favourite people on this planet. I can't thank you guys enough for all the gifts and letters. I am so blessed to have you guys. I am more than thankful for all the love I received today. I love you my blinks," she wrote.
The confirmation earned mixed response from the fans; however, most of them loved the idea of calling themselves BLINKS. Allkpop reported most of the fans reacted positively towards BLACKPINK's official fandom name.
Most of the fans said the official fandom name has a chic vibe, while others congratulated BLACKPINK and BLINK for finally dropping the bomb. "All of YG fandom names are high-quality like Inner Circle, iKONIC, VIP," a fan said.
Despite the positive feedback, there were also some who are not happy with BLACKPINK's official fandom name. There were fans who thought the girl group has such a fierce image to be given such a cute name.
However, BLACKPINK fans have nothing but love for the girl group as they expressed their continuous support to the four-member band regardless of their official fandom name.
