TOPSECRET's Kyeongha has found himself at the center of a sexual assault controversy. The K-Pop group's agency has now responded to allegations made by an unidentified woman that the singer sexually harassed her.
In a post that has been circulating on several online communities, the woman claimed that Kyeongha sexually assaulted her before he made his debut as an artist with screenshots of their alleged text message conversation. The post has since gone viral and led to many malicious reports against the idol, prompting Kyeongha's agency, JSL Company, to issue an official statement threatening to take legal action against those spreading false rumors.
"We understand that malicious comments come with being an idol, which is why we did not respond to the rumors before," Soompi quoted the agency as saying in its statement. "However, we judged that the overly indiscriminate flood of false facts and slander would hurt not only our young member Kyeongha himself, but also the other members, family, agency, and fans of TopSecret."
The label added that they will not hesitate to take strong legal action against individuals responsible for spreading the malicious rumors and false information that damages Kyeongha's character as well as other artists under JSL. The agency also apologized to the fans for giving them a reason to be worried due to this scandal and promised them that they would strive to work harder in the future.
Before the rumors about the alleged sexual assault started doing the rounds, Kyeongha, who is the youngest member of TOP SECRET, was in the news because of his striking resemblance to "Goblin" actress Kim Go Eun, according to the same publication. Netizens found that the idol has several features identical to Kim, including her signature smile.
"I have had many people tell me that I have the face of a female celebrity, but this is the first time I was told that I look like Kim Go Eun," he was quoted as saying at the time. "I'm even happier because I'm a big fan of 'Goblin,' and it's great to be getting attention for looking like the main character of the drama."
