Renowned American scriptwriter and film director John Ridley has recently shared his excitement for the development of his latest “secret” project with Marvel in an interview.

“We’re continuing to work on it. I’m very, very excited about it. I’m lucky in the sense that it’s not the only thing I’m dependent upon, but I will say the number of questions I’m asked about it tells me there’s still an appetite. I do hope to be able to bring it to people in the near term,” the 51-year-old Academy Award winner told The Wrap.

He added: “For me, it’s always about bringing perspectives that we’re not witnessing… It’s always about a level of storytelling, patience in storytelling, and also making sure that when we produce it, I can give it my absolute full attention. Because I do have a lot of things going on right now. So timing is everything.”

Just recently, Channing Dungey of ABC’s entertainment division disclosed that Ridley is currently working on some changes on the secret project for Marvel, Comic Books reported. Due to this, some supporters expressed their excitement and anticipation online. However, neither of the two had revealed further details about it and it seems that the viewers would have to wait a little longer until its release.

Ridley began his career in the industry in 1990 as a writer for sitcoms like “Martin”, and ”The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. He later pursued directing and became the man behind the films ”Cold Around the Heart” and “Jimi: All Is by My Side”.

In 2013, his work for “12 Years a Slave” earned the “Best Adapted Screenplay” recognition in several prestigious award-giving bodies including the Academy Awards, Broadcast Film Critics Association Award, and the Houston Film Critics Society Award.
