"21 & Over" actor Justin Chon and "Nocturnal Animals" actress Ellie Bamber are in talks to star in the romance movie "Taipei." "Mayer Hawthorne: Man About Town" director Jason Lester is directing from his own script.

According to Deadline, Chon will play Paul and Bamber as Erin in "Taipei." Their characters are both Brooklyn writers.

"Taipei" follows an unexpected and fast-blooming romance between Erin and Paul. It covers spontaneous wedding, drug binges, all-night urban revels. It also highlights the trip of the couple in Paul's native country Taiwan in which they confront their individual alienation, Variety reported.

"Taipei" is based on Tao Lin's 2013 novel of the same name. The producers are "Poseidon Rex" producer Mark L. Lester and "Camgirl" executive producer Jesy Odio together along with "The Intruders" producer Jeff Sackman and "My New Best Friend" executive producer Berry Meyerowitz as executive producers.

Director Lester shared that "Taipei" is about love, alienation, loneliness, drugs, writing, and how people can exist and connect amidst all of the cultural detritus of the Internet age. He is also excited to bring Lin's vision to the screen.

Lester is a filmmaker and photographer from Los Angeles. His music video credits include work for Mayer Hawthorne, Beach Slang, We the Kings, The Griswolds, Thrice, La Sera, The Soft Moon, EMA, and Tancred.

Bamber has recently starred in Tom Ford's thriller "Nocturnal Animals" and Joe Wright's romantic drama "Pride and Prejudice." She has just joined the cast in Disney's upcoming "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms." She is represented by UTA.

On the other hand, Chon has had roles in the "Twilight" series and Jon Lucas' comedy "21 & Over." He recently directed and starred in the dramedy entitled "Gook," which is about two Korean-American brothers to defend their family's shoe store while ultimately contemplating their future and is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 21. The 35-year-old actor is represented by APA.

"Taipei" has already started shooting in New York last month.
