Members of Wonder Girls are reportedly scouting for new agencies. The girls' contract with JYP Entertainment is coming to an end this year.
An exclusive report revealed that the South Korean K-pop group Wonder Girls' will soon leave its label, JYP Entertainment, following the near end of their contract with no statements coming from JYP whether or not the members will renew. Consequently, assumptions suggests that Yenny, Sunmi, Yubin, and Lim are reportedly looking for a new management company.
Following the reports, JYP Entertainment then issued an official statement regarding issue. "Nothing has yet been confirmed about their contract renewals as the death of Yubin's father has caused delays in the discussion. We do not know if they're looking for a new agencies or not," Allkpop reported.
However, on Jan. 5, a source revealed that some members of Wonder Girls' have been in contact with other agencies. A source from one of these agencies unveiled, "It's true that we discussed transferring with one Wonder Girls member. However, their contract has not expired yet, so it is difficult to reveal anything since we are still in discussion," Naver TV reported as cited by Soompi.
A different source close to the group revealed that a member of the group is looking for an agency that will support her music interest. Another member is said to be looking for an agency who will consider her branching out into acting and being an MC.
Formed by JYP Entertainment in 2006, the group debuted with their song "Irony" the following year. Co-managed in the United States by Creative Artists Agency, the group gained entry into the American market in 2009 as an opening act for "The Jonas Brothers' World Tour," performing their hit single "Nobody."
Recently the group made a comeback with their song "Why So Lonely." This year also marks the groups' 10th anniversary.
