There are two sides to every drinking story: the fun part and the nightmarish part. Of course, the latter is the part when all the toxic substance you've consumed the night before finally kicks in and you simply have no way of getting out of it. To say it briefly, this is the hangover stage.

While nobody on this planet earth likes being hungover, it's just simply inevitable. From the moment you start chugging in your first sip, you just know that everything that follows will beat you up the next morning. Then there's the part where you're just filled with self-hate and regret for letting alcohol take over you again for the nth time.

Hangovers are the worst.

Thankfully, a recent study conducted by German scientists is paving a way to help alcohol drinkers avoid a painful hangover. According to the study published in the journal Alcohol and Alcoholism, choosing beer with high amount of hops can guarantee that you'll wake up the next morning hangover-free.

What's more, the research also found that beers with plenty of hops can reduce the damage done to the liver after a night of heavy drinking.

Hops, in case you don't know, are one of the basic ingredients in making beer that is mixed with yeast and water. In beer brewing, the hops that are used is the flower of the hop plant.

"Drinking fermented alcoholic beverages like beer may be less harmful than hard spirits," said nutritional scientist Dr. Ina Bergheim from Friedrich Schiller University.

"Our data suggests that hops in beer might contribute to this effect of beer."

The team conducted their research by experimenting on mice. They gave them specially brewed beer without hops, beer with high hop content and pure alcohol. After 12 hours of drinking, they found that the mice who took the beer with hops had less build-up of fat in their liver.

According to the study, this factor can affect the liver's ability to clear toxins from the blood. So if you're planning to hit up another party, you now know what to do. Stick to beer with plenty of hops.
