Fans of "Supergirl" will see the return of past villains, Livewire and Metallo when the CW superhero series returns in 2017.

According to TV Line, Brit Morgan and Frederick Schmidt are both set to reprise their roles as Livewire and Metallo, respectively, in the second half of "Supergirl" Season 2. Details on their upcoming new storylines have not been made available. While this is the case, executive producer Ali Adler teased that other fan-favorite villains will also resurface this season.

Fans will remember that Metallo was first introduced in the first two episodes of the current season as Lena Luthor's assassin. But he was later turned into a cyborg by camp Cadmus. Meanwhile, Livewire, first popped up in the Supergirl universe in season 1. The character teamed up with Silver Banshee this year to battle "Supergirl" and "The Flash."

Livewire and Metallo will join previously announced upcoming Big Bad, Mr. Mxyzptlk on "Supergirl" Season 2. Per ComicBook, the popular Superman foe will appear in two episodes (slated to air sometime in 2017).

Although no official character description has been released, the site teased that the comic book character "is a powerful fifth-dimensional imp whose battles with the Man of Steel are defined by a sense of fun and mischief more than malice -- but that doesn't mean there won't be destruction when he comes to town."

No actor has been cast yet for the role.

When viewers last tuned in on "Supergirl," the epic superhero crossover kicked off with Barry and Cisco dropping by to National City seeking Kara's help to take down the Dominators. During the Danvers' Thanksgiving Dinner, Alex made a decision to finally come out to her mother. On Kara's orbit, shippers were treated to a swoon-worthy moment after she and Mon-El locked lips.

"Supergirl" will return on Jan. 23 with an all new episode titled "Supergirl Lives" on the CW.
