Golden State Warrior coach Steve Kerr revealed on Friday that he consumed marijuana to help alleviate his chronic pain in the back that suppresses him to do his activities well.

Because the pain is too much to bear, he decided to undergo surgery after the Golden State's championship game in 2015 which caused him to miss the initial 43 games of the 2015 to 2016 season. Kerr said he has no idea if he was apt to a drug test, and now the question has been answered.

The NBA responded to Kerr's revelation, with a statement from NBA spokesman Mike Bass:

"All of our coaches are drug tested each season. Marijuana is included on our banned substances list. There are medical exceptions to our policy but, in this case, it's not relevant because Steve said he did not find marijuana to be helpful in relieving his back pain."

The current NBA Coach of the Year confirmed his twice use of marijuana in the past 18 months while enduring the back pain that still hurts him a lot this season. Kerr's admittance is like a bomb that exploded to his team which caught them by surprise.

The Golden State Warriors coach is anticipated to further discuss his weed consumption before the game against Phoenix on Sunday at Oracle Arena. His player Draymond Green said that he didn't need painkillers or marijuana, a serious injury or need operation while guard Klay Thompson would only approve drugs for medicinal purpose only.

According to Slam, Kerr smoked weed after his back pain surgery way back 2015 where he suffered immense pain and bouts of a headache that almost crippled him. Golden State Warriors is already at 50 back then and in gracious shape. When he believed that nothing else worked to alleviate the excruciating pain that is the time he turned to weed.

While the report said that marijuana is a prohibited substance for coaches, amid the late presidential election, California voters passed a law that successfully legalizes the use of weed for recreational purposes.
