"Tokyo Ghoul" is one of the most popular anime and manga series today for dark thriller fantasy. But fans will have to wait a little longer before the release of the third season to make way for a live action adaptation set for 2017 release.

Season 3 Delayed Once Again

Bad news for the fans of the popular horror anima series: season three of the well-loved "Tokyo Ghoul" is still in limbo. Although the anime and manga series is very popular, the news about the artists and possible release date is still unknown. According to Fandom, one of the biggest reasons why the horror anime series is still in limbo is due to the fact that the manga doesn't have enough storyline to warrant another season.

But even though the status of the upcoming series is still unknown, fans should anticipate another form of "Tokyo Ghoul" coming soon. The series' popularity has pushed it into new platform - live action. According to Anime News Network, a live action adaptation is set for release next year in Japan. The plot of the movie is still unknown but it's safe to say that it will definitely feature Ken Kaneki on his early days as a ghoul.

Possible Storyline for Season 3

The second season for "Tokyo Ghoul" ended in a bit of a cliff hanger as Kaneki walks towards the CCG carrying the body of his friend. The third season will most likely continue where it left off and will focus more on Touka.

But the storyline of Ken Kaneki is going to be very interesting in season 3. Yes, Kaneki survives and his status immediately after the end of the second season is closely related to ghoul investigations. Instead of working with the ghouls, he has become part of the special group that hunts ghouls.

Fortunately, Kaneki has a complete turnaround on his priorities as he became the One Eyed King. But Kaneki is not the only one consolidating power. On the other side of the spectrum is Furuta who has successfully assassinated his elders in order to be on top of the Washuu organization and everything under it.
