‘Voltron’ live action film to be produced by Universal Pictures; former Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter scripting the film

With more and more movies coming out as live adaptations of animations and video games, we have Universal Pictures setting their sights on live-action version of space-battling mecha "Voltron," and scripting the film is former Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter.

According to Deadline, when DreamWorks Animation was purchased by the studio, Universal Pictures was able to continue the "Voltron" film project. The former Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter, who also wrote the script for "X2: X-Men United" and "Watchmen," is currently drafting the script for the classic mecha action movie.

"Voltron Legendary Defender" gets second season

So far no other news about the live action adaptation on the "Voltron" franchise has surfaced yet. But in other news, the "Voltron" legacy has continued on in the latest rendition of the franchise, "Voltron Legendary Defender."

Revealed during the New York Comic Con 2016, "Voltron Legendary Defender" Season 2 will begin airing on Netflix's streaming service on Jan. 20, 2017, according to IGN.

"Voltron Legendary Defender" first aired on Netflix June 10 this year and it is a rebooted take on the original 1984 animated series, with the first season having 11 episodes. Among the voice cast in the first season is "Walking Dead's" Steven Yeun and "Reaper's" Tyler Labine.

"Voltron Legendary Defender" premiering on Netflix is an American animated webtoon series that was  produced by DreamWorks Animation and the World Events Productions and animated by Studio Mir (who's also known for works like "Avatar: The Last Airbender").
