The phenomenal success of "One Punch Man" season one obviously secured the anime series a second season. But it took for a while before producers of the anime announced to the public the plan of a follow up season. Fans, however, took a big relief upon the news that "One Punch Man" will have a second season.
The announcement for the second season was made through the anime's official Twitter account. The post contained a photo attachment showing the bald hero with his fist and a big number two in front. However, Release Date has reported that the highly anticipated second season of the action parody anime is still in limbo.
In fact, it was reported that the anime's second season may well be expected to be released by 2017 and not on the remaining last months of 2016. The initial production phase of the anime has only started mid-2016 which made the expected October release highly impossible.
According to the same report from Release Date, the delay for the release of the second season was due to the great lacking of source materials. But this could be unlikely as many production houses resort to filler episodes in cases the manga material has not yet catch up and has already been exhausted for the anime.
However, as of this writing, no official announcement has ever made by Madhouse Entertainment as to the release of "One Punch Man" season 2. On the other hand, Viz Media has previously announced they have been working an English-dub "One Punch Man" release but did not discuss the highly anticipated season two.
As to the absence of any development, it can be concluded that no one outside the production studio of Madhouse Entertainment really knows when will Saitama of "One Punch Man" be back.
